SEATTLE, August 18, 2005 - The Japanese-speaking community already relies on Junglecity for news and information about Seattle and Washington State--and now with the launch of Junglecity Travel, users are able to access detailed visitor's information about other small and medium sized cities in the US in their native language.
Since June 27, 2005, visitors to Junglecity have been enjoying Junglecity Travel under www.junglecity.com/travel/. The first location is Louisiana, with a particular focus on New Orleans--it's the internet's very first professionally-created, comprehensive site for Japanese visitors to the Crescent City. Junglecity created it through extensive research with the assistance of the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors' Bureau (NOMCVB) and Mikazuki Connection, a New Orleans-based destination management company. Basic history and geography are included, as well as event and area guides for sightseeing, shopping, gambling and dining. Accommodations, spas, sporting events and jazz clubs will all be included, along with famous sites from popular movies and daily trip-planning assistance.
Now Junglecity is running a sweepstake to send a winner to New Orleans for 2 nights and 3 days. The sweepstake includes air ticket by Sankei Travel, accommodation by Embassy Suites Hotel, and other offers by The Jazz Parlor, Louisiana State Museum, Howl at the Moon, New Orleans Spirit Tours, Tour-New-Orleans.com, Nola Gondola, Mardi Gras World, Cajun Pride Swamp Tours and Chez Vodum. The winner will be greeted by a representative of Mikazuki Connection at the Louis Armstrong International Airport and will be given an opportunity to explore New Orleans by using the various offers included in this sweepstake. The winner will also have to report the details of the trip with photos back to Junglecity Travel, which will be presented to other users online within a week from the completion of the trip. The winner will be announced on September 1, 2005, and the trip must be completed before Thanksgiving.
Junglecity currently sees over 21,000 unique viewers every week, adding up to an impressive 2,100,000 or more page views per month. Japanese tourists from other parts of US and countries including Japan and Canada rely on Junglecity mostly for restaurant/hotel/club/event/sightseeing guide in addition to communicating with Japanese residents through bulletin boards (divided into 17 categories and receive minimum 1,000 postings a week) . Seattle's sizable Japanese-speaking community accesses Junglecity for daily news updates, events calendars, a parenting network, columns written by Japanese professionals and, of course, regular Mariners updates. It helps members of the community to get connected--and stay that way.
